Our office philosophy is built on two strong foundations. The first of these is to provide you with extremely high quality dental care. The second is to form a relationship in which you can be knowledgeable about your dental health, can feel comfortable asking questions, and can make informed decisions concerning your dental care.
Dental Insurance
At Danvers Dental Associates, our goal is to provide our patients with the best possible care. As we always have, we strive to offer the best service and dental care regardless of whether a patient has dental insurance coverage or not. In the end, the relationships that we build are with our patients – not with their insurance provider.
Dental Insurance is generally set up as a benefit through an employer as part of the employee’s compensation package. Every employer selects a dental plan out of a large number of plans that may be available. Each plan will vary in terms of what it will cover, what it won’t cover, and what percentage of a given dental procedure will be paid by the plan. Think of the plan that has been chosen for you like a coupon – a coupon that has “exclusions” and “black-out” dates. Not only does this set limits on what will be covered, it sets limitations on the services that we can even provide and many times will exclude procedures that may be of benefit to our patients. In the end, we don’t want insurance companies to have a seat at the table when it comes to making informed decisions for your teeth and your dental health.
Even though we are not privy to the contractural agreement between your employer and your dental benefits company, we always want to help our patients maximize the benefits that they receive under that plan – essentially helping to maximize the benefits of your coupon. As a service to you, we are happy to file your insurance claims, including x-rays, photographs, a written narrative, and any other supporting documentation that may be helpful in supporting your claim. And if you are interested in knowing what your particular plan will cover in advance of treatment, we are happy to submit a pre-determination of benefits for you – just ask us!

Emergencies
Our doctors schedule emergency time daily. It is helpful to all if you call with any emergency as early in the day as possible.
Appointments
Our office reserves specific time for your appointments, as we recognize everyone’s time is valuable. We confirm all appointments, whenever possible. If you are unable to keep an appointment, we appreciate 48 hour notice so we may offer the time to others.
Recall Visits
We believe the best way to keep you healthy is with regular preventive dental care. Staying on a regular recall schedule is an investment in maintaining your dental health.
Your Initial Appointment
At your first appointment, we like to gather as much information about you as possible. This includes your previous dental and medical histories, any current problems you may be experiencing, and your goals of dental treatment. We will then conduct a comprehensive examination, including an oral cancer screening, periodontal evaluation, and a thorough evaluation of your teeth, including any existing dental work. A determination will then be made if any x-rays are necessary. Utilizing our state-of-the-art digital sensors, designed to reduce your exposure by 75%, we will take the x-rays which are necessary for properly diagnosing any hidden problems which cannot be seen otherwise. In some cases, it is necessary to take study models of your teeth as well as photographs to aid us in properly treatment planning your dental care.
We will then discuss with you our findings, and based on your input and desired treatment goals, an ideal treatment plan will be developed. In most instances, there are several treatment options and these will be discussed with you. In some cases, it is necessary to have you return for a brief treatment presentation.
Financial Policy
In order to reduce additional billing costs and maintain reasonable fees, we request that payment for treatment be made at the time of the visit. Financial arrangements for extensive treatment can, of course, be made and discussed prior to starting treatment. We are also happy to provide financing for larger treatment plans through CareCredit, a third party financing company, and can help make the application process quick and easy for you!
